Money, Value - Relationship.

Midweek Midnight Musing.

In the last few years, I have been privileged to get interest free loans from family and friends (F&F), at the times when I needed it-  for most I document, and pay back in due time or plead for an extension when I know I cant meet the refund timeline.

On the flip side, I have equally loaned to some other  F&F, and the experience is best described as- The Good🙂, The bad😎 and The downright ugly experience😵

The Good🙂, paid back as promised.

The Bad😎 have not paid back, nor do they even call to ask or plead for extending time to pay back - but are quick to make emotional excuses and promise to pay only when you remind them

As for "The downright Ugly" 😵 - at least two persons so far have disappeared with money loaned them, - they have changed phone numbers and  gone completely incommunicado and one has even left Nigeria "Nicodemusly"

Some say regardless of the amount requested or the person "don't  loan anyone money, above that you can conveniently gift them or afford to lose"should they never pay back,CAUTION🚧 makes perfect sense ?- saves you from the bad and the ugly? though this philosophy colors you to see every borrower as " a potential bad & ugly "-maybe, just maybe - if you were the one on the borrowing side, you just might be a " bad & ugly" borrower ,hence you find safety in lending only what you can forgo aka "dash"? Am just asking not judging🤷‍♀!

The Truth.

Nobody gives you money for nothing, everyone that gives out money does so on the basis of an exchange of value, - This is true for a purchase, for an investment, or even for employment and certainly true for an interest free loan from or to family and friends (F&F).

If you are loaned money by family or friends, see it for what it truly is; an exchange of value: on the basis that they value and trust you to be true to your intentions to pay back and you equally value that relationship well enough to pay back what was loaned you (interest-free).

To those who have loaned and forgiven nor requested for pay back - indeed Blessed are you 🙏🏿

Psalm 37:21 ESV
The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous & gives

Proverbs 22:7 says, “The rich rule over the poor, & the borrower is slave to the lender

Its A Matter of Cash

On the 20th of Jan 2009, i watched on as million and millions of Americans all celebrated one thing HOPE!, and change that lies in horizon, and from my room I wondered will our home land Nigeria ever have something to celebrate about, even if its just change, a change in the right direction. Below is an article written in response to CNN's NIGER DELTA, Planet in Peril,  by a friend of mine,  Comfort Olubo Umaru  a lawyer based in Abuja Nigeria. IT’S A MATTER OF CASH. by  Comfort Olubo Umaru As an avid reader, a former resident of the area and concerned citizen, it would be remiss of me not to start any discussion on the Nigerian Niger Delta with one name. Kenule Saro Wiwa. As a child my favorite TV show was Bassey and Co. This was a screen adaptation of plays written by Ken Saro Wiwa. It was about a wise cracking young man called Bassey and his friend Alale and their varied antics. The show was all about their varied attempts to ev...

Black In The Oval Office, Africa Don't Celebrate Yet

Mr Obama proposes to invest $150bn in alternative fuel over the next 10 years, he said the US would not be held "hostage to dwindling resources, hostile regimes , and a warming planet”. He called for greater fuel efficiency and an "energy economy" aimed at creating millions of jobs for Americans. "We (the US Government )will commit ourselves to steady, focused, pragmatic pursuit of an America that is freed from our energy dependence, and empowered by a new energy economy that puts millions of our citizens to work". Read and read it well Nigerian government, policy makers and anyone who cares, the hand writing is on the wall, since successive government in Nigeria have only payed lip service to creating an economy for Nigeria that is diversified and not heavily reliant on oil, I guess this is a wakeup call. If the major buyer of your product say he see a future of less dependence on not just you as a supplier, but also on the product you sell in the ...

Happy, St Valentines Day

Love is eternal ~ the aspect may change but not the essence, there is the same difference in a person before and after he is in love, as there is in an unlighted lamp and one that is burning! The lamp was there and was a good lamp, but now it is shedding light too, and that is its real function. And love makes one calmer about many things, and that way, one is more fit for one's work. ~ Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) Happy Val’s Day! Every One
