Crossover 2016 into 2017

Thankfully it's the end of another 365Days, its 31st December 2016 and am on the road with family on a road trip back to London after spending some time with family friends living in Margate, Kent United Kingdom.  My Song Of Praise  Writing this sparks up nostalgia, because the first and only time I  have had to make my year's end blog post from outside my home country was in December 31st 2008. Then I was studying in the UK and spent the Christmas holiday with same family members, then living in Edinburgh in Scotland. Eight years later this family has grown in number by two wonderful, smart and loving beings, I chose to call them Marky and Awesomezizi. Well Me, I have grown too, surely and steadily - married to a wonderful and beautiful friend, patiently  waiting on my own blessings of children someday and in the last 7 years doing  a job that's been a blessing, helping and serving people searching for quality higher education in the same institution where I  once

Tv - I got Netflixed.

Almost six months today I traded my DStv subscription from MultiChoice the South African company and  Africa biggest and leading Tv and video entertainment company for something cheaper. Netflix,an American multinational entertainment company providing streaming  of media and video on demand online.  In these parts some may say calling Netflix, less expensive is arguable because of the cost of broadband internet connection but at least by my own estimate it is. First off, it gives me a bit more control to pick what's available to watch and watch it when I chose to,not saying Netflix it's  by any means perfect entertainment but I have grown to love it.  To start my Netflix experience, all it took was downloading a free app, and not buying or upgrading to another expensive decoder thats if i had wanted to get more out of my DStv.  Even with our beloved Nigerian currency the Naira on a free fall,a monthly dollar paid subscription on Netflix is still somewhat cheaper tha

To the north, to the north

When Mr. President started making appointments shortly after he was sworn in as Nigeria’s president on May 29th 2015, starting with his close aids who would work with him, immediately a pattern was noticed in his appointments by those of us who cared enough to notice it.  The few, but initial appointments was largely tilted in favor of a particular region of Nigeria the north and uncoincidentally it's the very same region Mr. President is from. President Buhari, since becoming head of the Nigerian state has what I would liken to a cult follower-ship from the northern region, hence when I use the term his supporters in the write up, I mean  not only people who are from the presidents region but those from other parts of Nigeria still with strong/passionate support for Mr President. For anyone one who dared to be a critic or has anything “unsavoury” to say about the initial appointment pattern of Mr. President, his supporters came out swinging punches in all directions in

Sacrificial Lambs

Some may argue all they want in support of  Mr President  but I believe this, never in history has one man changed a country all by himself, because it takes having the wisdom to gain the trust, commitment, respect, support and faith in your leadership  by the majority of your people for a leader to truly succeed . This present Nigerian government like those before it has not just asked the long suffering people of Nigeria to make more sacrifices, but like it or not they have already forced Nigerians to make sacrifices. Now fair enough Nigerians must make sacrifices, and I believe we have started this a by paying more for electricity even if moderately stable electricity doesn’t really exist yet,we paying more for fuel  (petrol) a commodity that’s at the center of Nigerian life’s more so due to the failed electricity infrastructure and failed refineries, also Nigerians are now paying N50 stamp duty and have been asked to prepare for a range of taxes to be introduced by Federal,State

Passion without purpose,serves no purpose.

This morning I headed out to do my business for the day, as usual I saw the #fantastically crowded petrol filling stations along my daily commute route, I didn’t even flinch as I have already accepted buying fuel    far above the official pump price, so as I turned on the car radio and    heard in the news that today, the government is getting rid of the    #fantastically corrupt petrol subsidy scheme, thus fuel will    now sell for N145 – I just smiled    and whistle my happy song   “ don’t worry , be happy”     for me I have been buying fuel above this price since the start of the fuel scarcity months ago, and he that is down needs fear no fall. Anyway as I drove, ahead of me I saw the #fantastically corrupt Nigerian Police Force (NPF) officers on “stop & search duty”, and true to their calling they stopped me, asked for my vehicle papers and licence, after checking and finding nothing implicating, to haggle me about, their tactics changed to   “ oga your boys are loyal oh”
