Out with the old (2008), in with the new (2009).

Its count down again, 2008 is almost over and done with, the days, weeks, months have all gone by so swiftly and in less than 5 hours the year 2008 will be in the past. 2008 has been a hard-hitting, but good year, many experiences that I went through as the year rolled by, has helped to better shape and define me as a person. You will always hear people say things like ," If you believe, then you can achieve" or If you want it bad enough, then you will get it". Theses statements, I have always believed in but believing in something is a whole lot different from living or experiencing that which you believe in. In 2008 as events in my life unfolded, I got an opportunity again to live and experience some of my personal believes. My believes basically are founded on two things, 1st my faith in God, and 2nd my believe in my God given abilities. To everything in life there’s two sides, a spiritual and a physical side, a sound state of being requires a good balance of both si

NIGER DELTA ,Planet in Peril, INDEED!!

Well thanks to the Cable News network, (CNN) Nigeria once again made a major story on one of its program special, Planet in Peril. What is it this time? Well it’s the now world famous Niger Delta story, that’s what was on the news again. Well this post is actually not about CNN and how it would rather show the ugly or troubled side of Nigeria to the world, and not try to balance those stories with all the Good or great things happening in Nigeria at the same time. My issues on this post, is this our so called Niger Delta issue, fight for freedom or what ever they call it, that is now going on in the region, because to me I really don’t know anymore. If I had grown up in another part of Nigeria, well my ignorance can be excused, but I grew up in the Heart of the so called Niger Delta, and I come from within the region, born and raised up in Warri, Delta state Nigeria, and having lived and worked in Port Harcourt for the last four years before living the country, hopefully to return, I o

Changing Global Pattarns

There is a changing pattern in Global sourcing ,for example china the one country that has seen its GDP grown astronomically in recent times then any other developing nation in that region and indeed the world, is currently seeing less and less investment in terms of companies using china as the destination for low cost country sourcing, for example in the clothing market more and more companies are considering and even setting up shop in other far eastern countries like Vietnam, where production cost and labour cost is a lot cheaper, also with the growing concern about quality issues e.g. the Toy recall issues and the recent problem with Milk from china. China is even becoming less an attractive destination but that’s on the one hand, because despite these challenges the Chinese government is putting a lot in place to change the perception of chain as a low cost sourcing country, its trying to develop china’s capability so that china can bee seen as a country that can offer consi

In Their Own Words

The Global village is in crisis, Global economic recessions and the current world financial crisis, where do we go from here? no doubt the world needs help, the question is this, is the world looking in the direction of the Black race? Maybe just maybe……… Barack Obama The First Black to be elected President of the United states “If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer” “Its been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.” “I know you didn’t do this just to win an election and I know you didnt do it for me. You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetim

Krunje!

To hold House on the Rock church, Port Harcourt (Heritage House) spelled bound, then you definitely must be a man of Kindred spirits with Pastor Lanre Oluseye of HOTR. Mr. Fela Durotoye, Held the Heritage House, (House on the Rock, Port Harcourt) spell bound for the entire session of his sermon titled (Krunje!) Or (Expo!) in our local lingo. He talked about the Vision of the future Nigeria, God revealed to him and how in the course of time as events passed in Nigeria he wondered if he really heard God, but then again Confirmations came to him, from truly and tested men and women in the faith. For me the message helped me pick a cue and edged me in a more defined way, on how to be the change that I desire to see in me and in our great country Nigeria. The Words! Where deep, passionate and true! It takes a large mind to comprehend. Using the city of Dubai with its magnificent structures, plans and scenic landscape, as a projection for the future Nigeria in 2025 in terms of physical devel

Life Enterprise

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to break through limitations and take action” Anthony Robbins Ask your self, what dose success mean, to me? Is it riches (a fat bank account), is it fame and fortune or being stupendously wealthy. Having an answer to this all important question sets the state for achieving what you really want out of being a success in life. For many success may have everything or nothing to do with having money, but real success goes beyond and above having money ,real success is having the ability to explore the immeasurable possibility of expending our God given talents ,using our resources , making the most of our time effectively , and balancing all this out with a solid moral fiber and virtue. Real success does not change who you are, real success does not get into your head, but real success keeps your feet on the ground, its stays in your heart and not in your head. Success is a journey; with many destinations and in this journey alo

Learning Experience.

The Morning Journey This morning what A morning indeed, the experience I had leaving my abode in Rumuola Aba road, Port Harcourt Nigeria to go to work some 25km along this same Aba road turned out to be one of Life’s learning experiences, that I most certainly learned a thing or two from. I boarded a Bus from my usual spot close to the Bori military camp; the journey proceeded as usual with the Bus making stops here and there, picking passengers along the way. In my Mind and from the watch on my wrist I figured that in 30  or 35 minuets tops I will be in the office and beat the 8.00am resumption time. Having been issued a warning for coming late a few days in the month of July, I was trying to do a lot better with my resumption time. The Bus got to Eleme junction and what do you know! a real crazy traffic jam, I said to myself "please not today of all day" . The Bus driver as with the usual impatient attitude of most commercial bus drivers made a quick  U- turn an

ISM (American) /CIPS (British) Credentials Discussion.

Institute of Supply Management -ISM Charted Institute of Purchasing and Supply -CIPS In comparison to CIPS certifications, I have always thought that ISM is equally of same standards, although I have seen a few that don’t agree with that assertion. I am presently taking the CIPS qualification and considering join ISM at the same time. I might still Join ISM as this will give me access to taking its online courses at a cheaper rate, but I wont be pursuing its qualifications via the exams, why?. The ISM exams are multiple choice questions, this kind of examination from personal experiences, is not a firm test of knowledge of the subject matter, as compared to taking an examination that requires theoretical, table’s graphs or chart explanations CIPS exams are all theoretical test of 3hrs,covering key subject and areas of Purchasing and supply management appropriate for each level of professional in the field or people just joining the profession . CIPS has a structured process to Pursue

Talk is Cheap

There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions. I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the king, "The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him." So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer. (Ezra 8:21-23 NIV) What an awesome scripture, the statement “I was ashamed to ask the King for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the king that the gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him” For me it says it all, TALK IS CHEAP!, after making a boast in your God, when push now comes to shove what do you do? We can say it, claim it, boast about it, but if we cant line all our talk with corresponding actions, then nothing mu

Yes,I know Its Time.

“Thou oh lord are a shield over me, the glory and the lifter of my head” ….life experiences for me has always proved Gods word to be ever true, and that verse always come to mind. Its been a while since I had the time to write or post on this blog, well I do love blogging and keeping tracks of current life experiences and thoughts, but when the pressures values of life is turned on one cant help but to put certain things aside and put your faith to force. In the past mounts I have had pressure on almost every front, on the Job, from within myself and even in my relationship. Of all of these, it’s the one that has to do within me that concern me the most. What do you do when your dreams get bigger by the day and it looks like that’s about, as it gets, living your dream in actual reality seems like a mirage , but you just cant stop dreaming. Stop dreaming? No way is “failure not an option, victory is a must” This phase is interesting, but not what everyone wants to go through it

Consequences of Our Sexualized Culture

Here's a piece I came across, its really thought provoking, I feel its actually the very same thing we experiencing in Nigeria, where a huge chunk of western culture mostly the negative ones are copied hook line and sinker by the young and even the old. Sexual innuendo, has become all up in your face, everyday from billboards to TV adverts, you see women showing their belly buttons, thighs, and the most common their boobs or putting it mildly cleavages. Watching a local musical video, you seen the most obscene sexual dances and dressing. The languages and lyrics are getting far more explicit by the day. I don’t know if anyone has noticed this trend lately, if you attend  children’s party, watch the little kids dance, they all want to dance like shakira, beyounce  or all the other female (sensual dancers out there). I feel this is not right, it’s not our culture and it’s not moral (from a decency or the religious angle). Well don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe either t

Cooperate Manslaughter

Cooperate Manslaughter Bill (A must and urgent Bill to be drawn up, Debated and passed in the national assembly) What is 'corporate manslaughter'? A company acts through the human agency of its directors, managers and staff. Where a company due to grossly negligent act or omission by a person(s) who is the “controlling mind” of the company results in the immediate cause of death of its employees, the public or other individual, it can be considered an act of corporate manslaughter. In order to convict a company of manslaughter it must be shown that a causal link existed between a grossly negligent act or omission by a person who is the “controlling mind” of the company and the immediate cause of death. It is difficult to envisage circumstances in which a company will be involved in “voluntary manslaughter” Corporate manslaughter will, therefore, normally be considered in the context of “involuntary manslaughter by means of gross negligence”. The House of Lords (UK) laid down a

Happy Val's Day

Love is eternal ~ the aspect may change but not the essence, there is the same difference in a person before and after he is in love, as there is in an unlighted lamp and one that is burning! The lamp was there and was a good lamp, but now it is shedding light too, and that is its real function. And love makes one calmer about many things, and that way, one is more fit for one's work. ~ Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) Happy Val’s Day! Every One

A Quick Work.

I sense a quick work, in my Life this year and who’s... doing that work? You might ask, My God almighty that’s who. I try to see myself as a work in progress, I have Pound and pounds of flesh that must be doled out of (my Mind) Just like the foreskin during the male circumcision. That’s one part of this processing; the other part is my needs and expectations for not just the New Year but for the Future. I started the year, with this long wish/prayer list…. Which by the first Sunday of the year got me asking the question. Willy you have Given HIM your list, now what about HIS own for you?, all Thanks to Pastor Lanre (HOTR) who’s sermon that Sunday jabbed my spirit man as always. I left Church asking; Lord what will you have me do for you this Year? In praying/fasting and asking the Lord, what HE wants me to do for HIM this year, I lost the sense of my own ever pressing needs. That frame of mind brought me so much inward peace and took me away from Me!. And it happened... that quick wo
