Crossing Over 2018 into 2019 - Make Things Happen

It's 31 st December 2018: Wow! the last day of another year and as I write this I can hardly pinpoint my emotions right now but I know real gratitude and a heart of thanksgiving is somewhere in there.  The last day of every year I have been blessed with is very special to me, it's not just the ending of one year and the turning of another calendar or just the 1st day of the year nor the festivities that make this day special. It’s the fact that I have gone full circle through another 365 days, one season measured in days has ended and am about to start a new cycle.  Over the last 12 going on 13 years since I started blogging here. I take a few minuets on the last day of each year to write a few of my thoughts “nothing too specific since I am putting these on a public space”  but I sort of write some general thoughts about the outgoing year and my outlook for the incoming year.  I must confess that haven been doing this since 2006, I now always go back to what I wro

You are hired...

You see these folks here, they are all applying to "me" to give them a "very big" Job in Abuja, next year,2019 February. I asked for CV's. while I have gotten some, good, bad and downright ugly CVs  that am diligently still reading through and checking out their claims, other prospects  are telling me they really don't need to give me a CV. Like it or not they will still get the Job anyways, because they have the money, #levels and connections. Some other are telling me "abeg" please ,you see this job,I don do something wen resemble am before, before , so just vote, sorry I mean hire  me -I shall make your company #great How I wish it's only me that will look at these  CV's,then run interviews and elect, sorry again I mean select the best man or maybe a woman for the job, but ufortunately, I have possibly over 80million other eligible people on this panel with me and most of us can't stand each other guts 😄 talk less of agreei

Getting my Grove Back - "read a book"

I have always been an avid reader of Books"hard or soft cover Books", however in the last couple of years I have to admit my reading habit of Books has been all but good enough.  It's something I love to do but I lay the blame on not doing it, on me being either too busy but that's not all the truth, cause I have somehow moved on to reading more digital materials, especially reading stuff online.  This, in the last two years just to catch up on some more formal type of reading of Books and other text, I would have loved to read, I joined Audible by Amazon to get audio Books and listen to them instead .  I reasoned,if for now am too busy or more like  "lazy" to read a Book cover to cover, then I might as well, have it being read to me. So I invested in Audible, and have since gotten some really great audio Books over a wide range of subjects, and issues from motivational book, to books on digital media, books on child birth, comic books and

This is Lagos , This is Nigeria.

Way before Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino sang This is America, in Nigeria we have a city Lagos, where we know there's really no "Welcome to Lagos" at the entrance of the city ,but (This is Lagos) . Sad news coming out of Lagos this evening, another horrible carnage on it's roads - my last post on June 1st surprisingly enough was about the unhealthy situation we have on our roads in Nigeria and Lagos sets the standard. Just in April on a visit to Lagos, I made the video  of a  major road, Ikorodu road and how it's  clogged  with container trucks and tankers hulling flameable Liquid,(video still on my blog timeline) and whilst having an early morning musing in Lagos, I wrote the piece  titled Lagos MOP (mode of operation) ,saying Lagos  is buckling under it's own wieght.Well guess it was easy for me to see it with fresh eyes since I am no longer a Lagosians, because it looked normal to some the way people carry on with  impending danger all around, b

Early Morning Musing - Nigeria MOP (mode of operation)

Lagos, commercial capital city of Nigeria with its over 15million population is buckling  under its own weight. Nigeria with about 7 costal states, and 3 of them apart from Lagos have sea ports. Yet virtually all imports and Nigeria's miniscule exports has to come in and go out the ports in Apapa Lagos. What I call typical Nigerian MOP . Simple solution, you would think is get the two ports in Delta state working,  these are (the Warri Port and Koko Port,)   and also get the three Ports in Rivers state, these are (federal lighter terminal FLT Onne port , federal ocean terminal FOT Onne port, and the Port Harcourt sea Port) all working full throttle including maximizing the use and gains of the Onne Free Trade Zone, and yet still ensure the Calabar Port in Cross Rivers state, comes back into full time operations. Hmmm but since this is Nigeria, it seems no one is interested in getting all the other Ports to function optimally, rather the easy solution is for Lagos state to s

Night Time Musing - Unbox Therapy

The decision to be on social media e.g Instagram, facebook, twitter, etc for most is a personal one, in most cases you did it cause you wanted to not because anyone asked you to. The content you share - pictures, personal stories, comments, opinions, write up, career/work /business or even faith /religious related contents be they good, bad or sometimes down right ugly - they are yours and it's your decision to share them- Don't let those who make themselves out to be "the judge" rule your life, by letting the "fear" of  their opinion about what you chose to do or not to do on social media, be what teleguides you. As long as you do what you doing for the right reasons, then I feel it should not matter what people think, say or even do- you just do you, be you, share your stories, document time, places and events, how and where you best deem fit and if you chose to do that online or offline let it be your conscious choice - don't let people's opin

Politician na Winch (politicians are witches)

I like to capture the moment, random stuff that interests me from time to time and I mostly do this using the camera or sound recorder on that one device that as a result in advances in technology and human commercials enterprise has been foisted on me and has almost become inseparable  (my phone, smart phone ) Besides its use for making calls, and the 1001 apps on a smartphone, the selfie culture and the argument this culture has brought about if selfies is a narcissistic behavior. The smart phone obviously still - ranks tops amongst innovations that has  changed and is changing our world. Personally though, I  think the two best thing my phone's camera is useful for, are acting as a small mirror when I can't find one, and of course using it as at tool for one of my "sport" - capturing the moments randomly. So, here I was taking a ride on taxi, from the mainland to the island in Lagos Nigeria  and the driver starts playing this song on the radio. I just had to re

Nigeria's Music Scene,One View

As always I love documenting some of my thoughts and today, I had to provide a brief overview of the Nigerian music scene to a Senior Lecturer in Music Technology & Production in a British University and these were my take on the industry, based on typical commentaries, discuss and research on the Nigerian music scene. Practitioners within the sectors, lovers of African and Nigerian music feel free to agree, disagree or add your thoughts. Basic overview The Nigerian music scene currently is a vibrant, fast growing one driven by Nigeria's young and burgeoning population ,industry commentators believe the Nigerian music industry can be a major player within the global music scene if properly managed and organised, it can be a viable revenue earner for the country aside from crude oil. This growth especially within the last decade has been largely centred around Afrobeat and High life Music (traditional african sounds/lyrics, fused with hip hop or other western sounds ) th

Eagle Eye Driver

Uber driver doing about 70 /80km/hr, on beautiful stretch of the Abuja airport road, the capital city of Nigeria, without any timely warning this bike man (motorcycle rider)  cuts from left to right,on a major highway with loads of cars zooming past on top speed.  We held our breath, driver slightly slowed and veered  left - it was a near miss, a very, very near miss in inches.  The driver's good reflexes and driving skill helped and he avoided running the bike man and his passenger over. It's not visible on the slow-motion part of this cam video, but I could see  how "wild with fear"  the passengers was as she turned around to see if this was probably her last moment. Glad and thankful this accident never happened, cause even when you didn't do anything wrong and a fatal accident happens, without any physical injuries on your side, you're probably still scarred for life, when a life is lost on the other side.     #Drive Safe, Stay Ale
