Politician na Winch (politicians are witches)

I like to capture the moment, random stuff that interests me from time to time and I mostly do this using the camera or sound recorder on that one device that as a result in advances in technology and human commercials enterprise has been foisted on me and has almost become inseparable  (my phone, smart phone )

Besides its use for making calls, and the 1001 apps on a smartphone, the selfie culture and the argument this culture has brought about if selfies is a narcissistic behavior. The smart phone obviously still - ranks tops amongst innovations that has  changed and is changing our world.

Personally though, I  think the two best thing my phone's camera is useful for, are acting as a small mirror when I can't find one, and of course using it as at tool for one of my "sport" - capturing the moments randomly.

So, here I was taking a ride on taxi, from the mainland to the island in Lagos Nigeria  and the driver starts playing this song on the radio. I just had to record, some part of the chorus in pidgin English, it went something like

",..  nor be only person wen dey fly for night be winch oh,be winch oh.." me tell you ",..  nor be only person wen dey fly for night be winch oh,be winch oh.."

.. politicians na winch.. dem be winch oh, dem be winch oh...."

... amebo na winch.. bad belle na winch.. dem be winch oh, dem be winch oh...."

In simple English it means, Politicians are Witches.

True Talk, when you start thinking of all Nigeria has been through in the hands of crooked politicians especially since 1999 - although most, and not all - fits this musician's description.

I captured this bit of the song, and enjoyed the comical but true message with a good laugh for the part of my journey this song lasted on the radio.

Its A Matter of Cash

On the 20th of Jan 2009, i watched on as million and millions of Americans all celebrated one thing HOPE!, and change that lies in horizon, and from my room I wondered will our home land Nigeria ever have something to celebrate about, even if its just change, a change in the right direction. Below is an article written in response to CNN's NIGER DELTA, Planet in Peril,  by a friend of mine,  Comfort Olubo Umaru  a lawyer based in Abuja Nigeria. IT’S A MATTER OF CASH. by  Comfort Olubo Umaru As an avid reader, a former resident of the area and concerned citizen, it would be remiss of me not to start any discussion on the Nigerian Niger Delta with one name. Kenule Saro Wiwa. As a child my favorite TV show was Bassey and Co. This was a screen adaptation of plays written by Ken Saro Wiwa. It was about a wise cracking young man called Bassey and his friend Alale and their varied antics. The show was all about their varied attempts to ev...

2023 into 2024 God's Goodness

2023 it is ending and Thank God, it's NOT the End. Am grateful for the year, goods immeasurable grace and mercies on me. Am trying to reminisce 2023 in my mind's eye as far back as I can possibly remember.  I started the year slowly focused and knowing the things I needed to get done at least for the first quarter. In hindsight now I can say it all worked out really well, at least until it all went crazy.  The national elections came, and I fought, I voted and hoped for a better government to take over at the national level, yet it was stolen right before our very eyes both at the state and national levels.  On a very deep level this crushed hope, that flicker of hope that Nigeria as a country would turn a corner for good this time. Unfortunately not only that the elections was  stolen but it was done in the most brazen, crude and evil manner.  Every institution of state was and is now captured by a thieving political establishment.  It's taken some time bu...
