From 2007 Into 2008

In about 48hrs and counting, the Year 2007 will come to an end, the dates on our calendars will change and when ever we make reference to 2007 it will be in the past. Its at times like this you really don’t have to wait till 2008 to look back, but now each day as the year rolls out, I take a look back and all I can say is THANK YOU JESUS, I didn’t get all I would have loved to have in 2007, but I am sure glad to be alive and kicking. The time I spent traveling back home to be with my family for Christmas, Dad, Mum… and siblings felt GOOD!, that moment will be savored for a long time to come. 2008 is a year of Visions, possibilities and renewal. I have come to realize that, creating a vision is not just enough; the mental pictures won’t come to reality on its own. So 2008 is a year of working out many visions, making a commitment to that vision. I have many thing all up in my mind, Lord help me to stay focused, prayerful and achieve all I set out to do in 2008. To all my readers, my fri

I Am Not A Victim

I have wanted to scream this out loud for a long time: I am so sick of all the victim thinking!!! On some days I'll have a Pity Party and be the only guest invited. I suffer from the self-imposed "It's not fair!" mentality. It's a belief that hurts me. Here's how it goes: I return phone calls. Why don't others call me back!? IT'S NOT FAIR! Whine! I respond to all emails (go ahead, email me). But I send emails that seem to go into a black hole. Why don't people respond to emails!? IT'S NOT FAIR! Whine, whine!! Why can't I get on Oprah!? IT'S NOT FAIR! Whine, whine, whine!!! The reality is, stuff happens. People let people down, balls gets dropped, mistakes happen, promises are broken, and as the country music song says, "Circumstances conspire to construct my present." And often those circumstances are out of my control. But I will not be a victim. But what about venting? Am I playing victim when I vent? Is it sometimes oka

Comfort, from Comfort.

Here is some more thoughts on Km story, I shared it with a friend, comfort and this is her response. KM's story is very touching. I don't know too many people who have the backbone to declare who they are, right or wrong. Hate the sin not the sinner. The game not the player. The gay issue if viewed from a religious point of view is considered evil. In nature it could be considered an abnormality as the design of most creatures and even plants to be male and female.KM as a human being is the kind of person everyone would love. There was a time that the then attorney -general of the federation proposed a bill to ban any group canvassing for gay/ lesbian marriages and associations. I was against this bill. I felt it was vindictive. I wrote to protest this bill. Am I gay? No. But I don't believe you should send a gay guy to prison. More recruits or certain death. What will that achieve?I was not in support of the gay/lesbian groups either. My opinon? Everyone should keep their

Meeting KM. The story!

A new week, a new hope, but as for the weekend, mine was a good and interesting one, first good thing was that I didn’t go to work as is the usual thing for me most weekend and secondly  I met a rather very interesting person. Let me tell you a little about this person, he is not superman, but he's not like most men I know, and maybe you just might have a thing or two to say after reading his story, and hopefully I can pass that on to him. His name is KM (lets just refer to him as this); he is a young man, very upwardly mobile and successful in his career, as a financial consultants to some of the big financial houses in Lagos. A good looking fellow, at least I got to see him one on one for the first yesterday. But here’s the catch, Km,  is GAY! and also HIV positive. By now any reader of my blog who know me is wondering how on earth did you meet a guy guy! or are you gay? no am not, am straight as a bullet and find the same sex thing abnormal, but here's how I got to k

We Either Make Ourselves Happy or Miserable.

"We either make ourselves happy or miserable. The amount of work is the same." The whole month of September, I didn't find time to blog, and there's a perfect explanation for that, I was on leave from work for about 4 weeks starting from the last week of August to the 3rd week of September. This period gave me time to see family, and visit friends in Lagos, Ibadan, Warri and my home town Kwale. Now I seat back counting the cost of my journeys and the sort of spending spree I went on, first I made an upgrade of my word-rope and this now includes a suit, which before now was alien to me, and that was one of the thing that caused the major damage, but am the better one for it, every day as I enter the office my colleagues  go Wooooooooo!!, "which levels "…. 70% is talking, referring to the percentage by which we recently had on our salaries increase for 2007, but honestly I knew I was due for a change in my wade-rope , so 70% or not I still would have d

Grace, Favour and Passion

I am a product of Grace, Gods grace! I look at my life, events and happenings surrounding me and my family all I can say, and keeping say is lord God almighty thank you for your mercies, your grace and your LOVE!. I always like to think of myself as not lucky, but favored, I don’t believe in that thing called luck, but I do believe that God can cause things to happen in ones favor, “ draw the lines so that it falls for you only in pleasant places” and that has been my lot, even though sometimes I fail to see and acknowledge that truth. We live in a world where, we celebrate and crave for a lot of crazy things, not just materials but also certain life styles. Every body rates you by what you wear, the kind of car you drive, whats the make or model of the phone you use, what part of town you leave the list goes on and on. These qualities and many more now becomes the typical yard sticks for anyone sadly including Christians to measure how much God has been good to us, or on the othe

Kemi's Blog

What a day its been, feeling somewhat low, can’t really say what it is thats the problem, but I guess maybe my night was not so good. With the curfew and everything now in PHC , one learns to turn in early and end up waking up at about 2am just looking at the ceiling. That’s how my night was last night. The fun part of the day so far has been the chat I have been having with a chat with kemi, she obliged me when I buzzed her on the messenger, to ask questions about investing in mutual assurance funds, and we ended up chatting and then exchange blog addresses  I  think her blog is nice and she needs to do more posting, so I recommend you stop by @ http://www.kemireplenish.blogspot.com/ . Nice work kemi, keep up the good job, blog away!

Chaos in Port Harcourt

For 6 days now PHC is a war zone, people die everyday and the Nigeria military says “they won’t use excessive force;” to stop militant clashes in the city, oh my God what kind of a country are we living in. The reports are everywhere, masked men on bike, spring up from different parts of the city shooting, the report says its cult groups fighting each other, but what’s the reason for this fighting ? Early this morning at about 5 am I heard explosions, later  that morning I was trying to get out early to beat the 7am deadline for commencement of environmental clean up exercise and met a road block at the slaughter axis of town, evidently they were some shooting  there already . I had to change my mind and direction and  decided to go to the office, where it’s a lot safer , as I write am getting different and even freighting reports of happens in certain part of old port harcourt town. NNPC mage filling station attacked, the state radio station attacked, even though these are

Gulder Ultimate Search 4 (IV)!

Lately I have had to post on this site http://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=63677.msg1380460#msg1380460 Are people are so narrow minded or is it just me, all they care about is let the Gulder ultimate search show continue, for them nothing is wrong its just one death. This issue from the bigger perspective, it’s not just about the death of this young man or if NB plc should be dragged to court in a 100M law suit. Its about NB and other companies to become more responsive to the needs of Today’s Nigerian, I think a scholarship or some kind of youth development program will go a long way to achieve a far better thing for the common good of the Nigerian youths , than any”Ultimate” search would. Let jut imagine this guys death happened at a Youth career development program or some other kind of youth development boot camp being organized by NB plc, I for one wont be crying crucify NB, but as it stands now am one of the people shouting nail NB. I know they are in business to brew product

TV survival show Gulder Ultimate search and the death

Anthony Ogadje, 25 a ,young man, in his prime dies, now how real can reality get. Gulder Ultimate Search People keep asking, where was every one when this young man was drowning? Well if you are a swimmer, you will know one thing, it takes very good skills as a swimmer to save a man drowning, and if you have seen the young man in question he is quite muscular, saving him might have gotten his rescuer drowned too if such a person is not an expert swimmer, so the questions I Put to Nigeria Brewery Plc, is this, where they qualified life guards on site? If yes what did he or they do? I believe before the Young man went into the water maybe he could swim, even a swimmer can drown, he might have had a muscle pull, severe cramps or some other attack ,also learning to swim in still waters like a swimming pool and then swimming in a waters with current is a different thing, one cant really say how this very unfortunate incident happened Nigeria is a country where, just because the law is just

07-07-07 The DAY!

7 they say is the Number of perfection and the bible records certain things in the order of sevens, They also say it’s a lucky number 07-07-07 just might be the luckiest day ever? Heres 7 things you should do and things you shouldn't do) on 07.07.07 – the day of favor, divine favors ....if your not a luck person!! Number one, Ask of God that day Matthew 7,vs 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Number Two, Declare healing for anyone sick Luke 7vs7 Wherefore neither thought me myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. Genesis 7vs7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives w

It's All A Part of LIFE

Today began like any normal day , it rained most part of the night so the whole place looks messy and wet as is usually the case in Port Harcourt when ever it rains. Got to work, thinking ,Yes! its another day,a thousand and one things to do, got immersed in work and then much later started trying to fill out a application form for a credit facility from a bank. Then suddenly came the news via a senior member of staff, that STOPPED time for a moment. “ Mr CY is dead!”  Shouts and cries filled the entire office, its not true, oh my God it cant be, this cannot be true. How can CY die? Mr Cyracuse Onyeh "Cy "  for short is one of my colleagues and also  one of the office favorites. He took ill last week, and we all thought it was just like any other sickness possibly malaria, so nothing serious he will get well in no time. On Monday the 2nd  July 2007,two colleagues from the office was at the hospital to see him, and he got discharge  from the hospital, so they took hi

2007 Elections in Nigeria a Travesty

So much talk about corruption, by... you know who.... Setting up,EFCC,ICPC bla , bla, Bla !!... Now look at THE man, the incumbent Governors of His party and His conspirators the entire PDP as they rape Nigerians in the open, and impose themselves on Nigerians ones again, by Hook and by crook. See what’s going on in EDO state, Delta , Anambara, Oyo,Platue etc. Lets ask our self the question, if these people are really going there to server, why must they get there at all cost? The only reason they are doing this is , they want to control the power and the wealth of the nation for themselves PERIOD!. They sure as hell, don’t need our votes to do that, they have Rigged and rigged it well,THE man has ones again played god! Presidential elections! No way, it’s a selection by Mr. Biggs already. We took the pain to register to Vote, came out despite the treat and the violence in most parts and @ the end of the day, the incumbents used the instrument of INEC and power that they control to swin

Job Hunting: ? Try The Number Game

There’s an anger perpetuated by the fact that the job hunting system slowly and systematically strips men and women of their self esteem and leaves them feeling devalued and discarded by our society. Our instinctive reaction of anger and sometime fierce anger becomes a burning fire within that gradually consumes us if not checked. If we are wise we must learn to let go of this anger and get on with our life. Enjoying the process, of hunting requires a paradigm shift. A renewed vigor and constant self check in order not to slip into depression resulting from some rejections. Try the NUMBER GAME. In the gambling world, if you place sufficient bets on enough different numbers, one of them is bound to pay off (that’s the Number game). In job hunting you have to play the number game, how do you do that, Cv’s/ Resumes. Yes that’s how you play the game. If you are using the resume/cv’s you have to play them just like a number game, send out just as many as you possible can in respon

The Job Hunting System

We ask our self the question, why do we go through this? Why dose the job hunting system and virtually all company in this country put us through all this? The path is the same for most people; we face the same obstacles, make the same mistakes and face rejection after rejection on our applications. Only a hand full won’t go through the usual stress of securing a good job.So lets look at it, is it the economy downturn that’s the problem? in this case the answer is No!, on the contrary there are indices showing our economy is growing, hence there are more jobs being created. It’s the “system” our system is such that we are absolutely tossed out of school to national services, to eventually become unemployed. We kick against the dust, and throw punches at the wind ,trying to secure a Good job fast, when that seems not to come, we settle for just any thing and even that still is not forth coming.Gradually, only gradually we begin to learn what the rules of this “system” are, what are t

Frustrating job-market (is there Hope or no Hope?)

Goodday, good people, I am currently doing some personal research on the job market and job hunting, its become a daunting task for most young people, many folks come out of school armed with degrees and Diplomas and end up getting aged in the process of seeking a job. Well to such a one, I ask, is there hope? The clock is ticking and its already 2 mins to midnight.A job hunt seems the loneliest task in the world. And we wonder: is it this difficult for other people?Well my friends the answer is YES!Are other people this discouraged and desperate and frustrated and so low in self esteem after a spell of job hunting? The answer again is Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!In this search, we dutifully send our resume... to every nook and cranny of the job market and then wait!. Wait! Wait!At this point our worth seems increasingly questionable even in our own eyes. We start talking to everyone who will listen, and listening to everyone who will talk with us, and thinking, that surely there must be someone wh

Though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again

"Though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again." As M. Dunham wrote, "Sir Edmund Hilary was the first person to conquer Mt. Everest. The first time he tried, he failed. He was knighted by the Queen of England, and at the gala occasion, on the wall behind the head table, was a huge picture of Mt. Everest. The people gave him a standing ovation for even daring to attempt the climb. When they ceased applauding, Hilary turned his back to the audience, faced that picture and said, "Mt. Everest, you have defeated me once and you might defeat me again. But I'm coming back again and again, and I'm going to win because you can't get any bigger, Mt. Everest, and I can."* Great attitude! What a difference it would make if we felt the same when we face the mountains in our lives. The reality of life is that we learn more through our failures than we do through our successes. Successes are satisfying and they are important to keep us encouraged. Howev
