Crossings Over 2017 to 2018.

So it’s finally here the last day of 2017 and am still here,am still standing but by the grace of God.  It’s hard to believe that 2017 wizzed by so fast and today its coming to an end.I can still vividly remember doing my last post for the previous year (2016)whilst on the road traveling back to London from margate Kent with family members in the United Kingdom. This year am doing my last post of the year, this time again on the road but in Atlanta, in the United States on my way to Sunday morning church service with friend, turned family.  2017 - It’s been an eventful year, yet at same times it’s  been a tough year, however regardless I can only say am blessed, no doubts.  That’s my confession ,It’s this blessing that carries  me through the highs, and the lows, the faithful and unfaithful experiences in 2017. Through my days,my nights  and through all the seasons of this year. The blessing of God that indeed makes rich and brings with it no sorrows- its that’s blessin

Welcoming Mr. President

Reminiscing Tuesday : :Seeing pictures of the crowd welcoming Mr. President (President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerias president) in the city of Kano;northern Nigeria earlier on in the week. It made me remember my experiences of how I welcomed two former Nigeria Presidents. Believe it or not, just like the good people of Kano, I had the rear privilege of this experience of nothingness, just stand by the road side, and wave, 👋, clap 👏 or cheer 📣   the Presidents motorcade and then "life goes on". First experience: It was during my very early years in primary school,1982 I believe. So this experience is a bit fuzzy, but I can still remember our teacher lining us all up in "a single file" and we marched from Aileru Primary School right in the heart of Marine Quaters, all the way to the the major Road where we queued on a section along Warri-Sapele road. As the president and governor motorcade rolled by we all waved, and cheered without a clue who or what we were wav

Staying Alive, Enjoying the Journey

This year, I invested in a multi room-portable speaker with bluetooth connectivity and internet radio access. It's been a long time coming, I have wanted one for a long time now. I had to save and wait for the right time to make this purchase as I had to get a premium brand (Bose Speakers) and they don't come cheap. Why would I wait this long to get a speaker and then talk about it online?  You see am very particular about my mornings, especially my waking moments and the first few hours of each day. We leave in a part of the world where if you are not deliberate about certain or infact most things for example how your day begins, then you just keep going through the motions, typical for folks living in a densely populated city. So personally I chose to take a different path, and my speaker offer a small help in that direction. I incorporated to my morning waking up routine, listening silently to great songs,of worship, contemporary gospel and inspirational music for those

The poor amongest you.

I vividly remember always being eager to watch on cable Tv, way back in 93, Robin Leach - show "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" it was a relish to hear his unique voice profiling well-known celebrities and watching on screen their lavish homes, cars and other materialistic indulgence - the show was so famous one of hiphop greatest artists of all time wrote this lyric "I made the change from a common thief to up close and personal with Robin Leach and I'm far from cheap". At the end of the show, I remember me silently joining in on Robin Leach signature phrase, "champagne wishes and caviar dreams."  probably hoping that would make me rich someday. That was then, and now today going back home from work, it struck me, I might not be watching a show on Tv but nonetheless everyday in these parts I see more of the flipside of Robin Leach show, and it's called " Life Styles of The Poor and Unfortunate" Indeed it is written "t

Ogle is 11years today

It's 11 years now I started blogging , this blog I named OGLE, acronym for (one goal leave empty) which to me means achieve all you are set to achieve before your time here on planet earth is up. This blog thus,  has remained a place for me to share  a few of my thoughts, opinions, projections and experiences on a wide range of of issues and divers topics. I have chosen to largely remain incagnito,  save for a few family and friends who know its me and  read this blog,I have remained in the shadows. My motivation for starting to write on a blog is  largely  just to simply just document some events, personal, shared or other people's experiences and my opinions. I never intend to prove anything via this blog, it's just my personal space for escape online from time to time. So I write when I feel like writing, am not under a schedule or under any compulsion to write to any particular audience -so when I do write I can write and say what I want, how I want and If anyone hap

The KweseTv, Revolution

Over a year ago I stopped my subscription to Dstv a local satellite Tv  entertainment provider and never watched them again since then, the axe I was grinding was that ,they are monopolistic, rigid with their product offerings & in my opinion overpriced. I had settled for what I considered a much cheaper options, via view on demand platforms like,Netflix, & Google movies, theres are not your traditional Tv channel and I believe they have even changed my TV viewing habits for the better. Last year when I made a post on this same matter, Isaid maybe when Strive Masiyiwa lunches KweseTv then there  might be some form of competition. Now, KweseTv has lunched in most countries across Africa and so sooner or later I believe Dstv monopoly will be facing some competition. I am  hoping the TV viewing market space don't go from monopoly to oligopoly, (sorry for the economic jargon, just trying to show my tuition fee was well worth it. 😂 ) but seeing KweseTv products offering oli

Got My Grove back- the Ogle Cooking Channel

Every now and then I eat out,but I always say "nothing  as good as a home cooked meal",and today with the wife out of town I told me -"no eat out"so despite the rains this evening on my way home from work I braved it into a typical "rowdy" port harcourt market, one of the many places I normally wouldn't go, not even if dragged by a leash. Well, this evening the voice in my head said, quit the whimpering boy!, you either go into that market and cook you a meal or you end up eating indomi and fried egg a - "that home made easy junk food" 💭 - this time I listened to the voice of reason, cause I think I have had one indomi too many already.  I stopped by the market, did my shopping, and went home to do my cooking all by myself and now am documenting it on my blog and sharing for posterity sake. Been a while since I cooked but incase you don't know, am good with the cooking, yeah! am a chef like that, bet I could run the cooking chann

Take it to the top, or build from the bottom ?

After paying £30 for courier delivery services as charged by TLS Nigeria (visa center) to return documentation of family members who had applied for visas. The TLS  (visa center)  courier company or contractor of choice DHL Nigeria had a light taste of my wrath, they had it coming when one of DHL delivery man with  wrong attitude came calling.  The name DHL should sound like a reliable and respectable courier company right? Well here’s my story. Just before midday on Monday my phone rings, and it’s the DHL delivery guy, he had called to ask for directions to deliver a package to my home address and I was at work; I enquired from him, if he is already on my street he confirmed he is but can’t find the address. I said just give me a land mark what you see where you standing and I will direct you? with a raised voice tone  he goes he can’t find any. I said Ok, take this direction – pass the first junction to your right, keep going and by the second junction still on

Warri - Self Destruction

I am an avid reader of blogs(not the gossip ones),even though am a blogger myself, and been blogging for awhile now,if I say so myself. For me blogging is one of the ways, I share some of my thoughts, opinion and my stories or a story from my own perspective. If anyone happens to read them, comment, share, agree or even disagree with these views- for that am also grateful. For the most part of my blogging I have chosen to remain incognito -   You can imagine my delight when I stumbled upon this blog  https://dofekeze.wordpress.com   and it's been quite an interesting read. This story on the town WARRI  https://dofekeze.wordpress.com/2016/01/14/singing-warri-sturbon-nor-to-killing-and-fighting  particularly caught my fancy, because just like the writer, I am Warri born and raised- Like the freash prince, this was my own west philly   I grew up in the 80s and 90s witnessed first-hand  the warri before, during and after the crisis. Eventually it was what led me to leave Warri fo

Make Your Life A Blessing (Friendships)

Make your life a blessing, meet people and make them better, and if for any reason you have to  leave people, then leave them better than you met them. Use all that's been given you to make the world and not just your world a better place. Sometimes friendships pick us and not us really picking our friends, you meet few people in  your lifetime that you like, trust or love genuinely and remain grateful that your life parts crossed, even as you continue to look forward to what would be in that friendship. You are not called to everyone that's my basic understanding , but to those you have been called to and even those you have not been called to,let your life still be a blessing. I just watched live Mark Zuckerberg, make the commencement speech 25May 2017 at Harvard University ,its shockingly inspiring, how one man's mind can phantom changing the world  by always having a higher sense of purpose that goes beyond self. That to me is gospel,a believe beyond fear or f

Back to Storthes Hall

On a very cold October morning the 16th 2008 to be precise, I arrived the Manchester International airport and being in the UK for the very first time ever,I could not imagine it would be this cold especially not after leaving sunny and warm Lagos the previous night, but here I am, JJC ( Jonny Just Come) with my big green rucksacks, my tiny kappa winter jacket I bought from "Ikeja, under bridge" - no gloves,no head warmer just me and the blistering cold. Normally  I never describe myself as a "warri boy" even though I am Warri born and bred, in that town where everyone has some " fire burning in their belly " but this day I guess some of the "warri boy" blood naturally just kicked in, because I told myself,"no falling hand oh" in other words man up!. So, I grabbed my bags put some pep to my steps and worked out the door of the Manchester international airport terminal building, like I knew where I was going - the blast of cold air tha

Out of the lips of children and young people

A friend sent me this video above on WhatsApp , video is credited to (Venture Africa). incase you can't view it. It's a video of school kids giving their impression of the Government and how to make the country better Below was my response as we chatted [ Me , 1:23 PM]  It's unfortunate that we moved from a bad and a failing government, to one that seems not to know what it's doing for almost two years now. [ Me , 1:24 PM]  Whether President Buhari is sincere or not, is not the issue now but if we must be honest with ourselves, his style is more trial by error [ Me , 1:27 PM] Obviously Mr president or his political party, pre 2015 general elections over promised and post 2015 elections are now under delivering. No thanks to a suppressed oil price and the myriad of problems plaguing  Nigeria. However the sad part is this, when you promise people you raise their hopes, and this government not only promised they in my own opinion took promising into over dri
