I Got a Good Feeling

"oh, oh, oh, sometimes I get a good feeling, yeah I get a feeling that  I never never never never had before" FAITH,IDEAS,AMBITION,COMMITMENT,HARD-WORK,TRUST,JOY,&FUN This post really has nothing to do with the song "good feeling" by the musician Flo Rida. Its just a message I shared with a very trust worthy soul who happens to be a dear friend of mine and I just thought of blogging about it, trusting in due time posterity will someday stand witness “this feeling was, more than just a feeling ”. 2014 it’s going to be an incredible year the best we have had yet and I just feel it, been  having deep personal and spiritual reflections and outlooks for what’s ahead.. Hopefully we can share ideas more this year and possible do something together. Nigeria is growing fast and so many opportunities abound..... Am searching, and thinking deeper lately, time to arise, and shine... I want to be a founder, leader/teacher and an ...

From 2013 into 2014

Just like that, it’s the end of 2013. It’s indeed been an incredible year, so much happened, the good, bad and the downright ugly. As the year ends am thankful for the blessings of life and the blessings of preservation for me, my entire family and friends far and near.  I have continued in this tradition of having reflections about the outgoing year and outlook for the incoming year,as my last post for the year. In my home country the level of insecurity in 2013 was worrying but God Kept Us, from burglars to armed robbers, terrorist, kidnappers, and militants of all sorts as they unleased evil, while the security agencies continue to try its best to contain this raging madness of “unreasonable men”.  Government and social corruption continues to digs its paws deep into our political and social fabric. While almost everyone complains of this particular ill, it yet seems as the day go by corruption is becoming a way of life for most. How do we fight this raging wave th...

‎ Social Media and 21st Century Technology.

I for one usually don't follow trends for the fun or sake of it, I won't buy a shirt, shoe, or even a car if I could afford it  just because it's in vogue . Similarly I won't do a dance or even a hair style because it's the trend. I don't like being anti trends, and have nothing against people who love the trends, but for me I always go with what I feel comfortable in or feel comfortable doing regardless if it's a trend or not. This brings me to this question: - Is social media a trend for the young folks or kids of the 21st century or is social media now a way of life, something we  somewhat can't do without,t wo big questions to ponder, especially if you consider your self savvy and an upwardly  mobile professional. For me, I lean more towards the latter but with a healthy skepticism. I do agree that with the pace at which technology and human communication is moving socializing,  doing business or even dating via the Internet is not a fad and...

Holistic Picture [ International Education]

Salisu Suleiman is one of the favorite blog's I read, he is always  insightful and his analysis spot on, recently he wrote about the challenges of university entry for the burgeoning number of young Nigerian high school leavers struggling for University entry places each year.  As a  practitioner in the Higher Education development and marketing sector, I would like to take him on some issues he raised especially the much debated downsides of Nigerians studying overseas.  Its important  that I state first that I do agree that the majority of Nigerians should study in-country and this is still the situation at the moment. If the government can create further higher education study routes and opportunities such as the community colleges model that Salisu Suleiman proposes in his blog post,I believe that would be an excellent steps in the right direction- read Salisu article here [ http://s...

Hotel Crooks

In March (myself &; colleagues from the institution I work for) organised an event at the Sheraton Hotel Ikeja,Lagos Nigeria  and we used one of its  event hall called the(pili pili). We had  arrived  at the Sheraton early that morning and patiently waited for the start time for this event while  welcoming and  ushering delegates to the conference/training session we had put together for our partners.  The lead/conference  organizer  commenced the 1 st session of the event promptly as scheduled and as the usual nature with events held in Nigeria not all delegate’s was yet seated at start time, but we had most people arrived already, so we commenced the 1 st session as planned. A few minutes after this session started a couple of people entered the hall, we beckoned to them to quietly pick a folder and seat to avoid distractions as much as is possible, with the intention to welcome them much later. In just about an hour the 1 st sessi...

Dark Day

Since the cold blooded killing of four students of the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria by some members of a community called Aluu, close to the University’s campus. I want to write cause  writing  sort of help me get things off my chest, but simply I don’t know where to start or what to say,…… reading the whole turn out of events with the 1st week in  October   left me gutted. Only last Tuesday 2 nd of October, I was watching the Aljazera news and surprisingly was seeing breaking news about Nigeria.  A significant number of students at a Polytechnic in Mubi, Adamawa state were shot and killed in a Night raid by what’s still being described as “unknown gun” men. I had only just struggled to not think about how sad, unfortunate and outrightly shocking this incident was.  Only to check timelines on twitter on Friday   the 5 th of October and saw the story of four students killed very gruesomely because it’s alleged they stole phone and lapt...

That Admirable Image of Nigeria

Nigerian students studying at a British University,  University of Huddersfield  always take every opportunity available to showcase and project an admirable image of its cultures and home country.  The Nigerian student society for the 2 nd  year in a roll, flamboyantly celebrated on 1 st  October 2012  the Independence Day on the University’s campus, and the local print media in Huddersfield even picked up on  the story.   http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/local-west-yorkshire-news/2012/10/03/university-celebrates-nigerian-independence-day-86081-31952784/2/ Lets dig in  Green Blooded Nigerians! 9ja Boys! salute   Great 9ja food An Asian gentleman eating pounded yam, real cross culture  Cutting the Anniversary Cake  -  Standing Left to Right Moji Akande PhD researcher (Lancaster Uni ) Felicia Nwanosike PhD researcher (Uni of Huddersfield)  Dr. Oluma...

"Don't forget to tell your wife you love her every day - you can never say it too often".

A Story Worth Sharing - Chopper Dey !

Before I start my story let me explain   what the term “chopper” means in pidgin English - For most people born and raised up in Warri, Delta state, especially those who were teenagers or young adults   in the 80's and early 90's. It might be a lot easier to understand what the word chopper connotes. The word is a Pidgin English term coined in Warri and it simply means: someone has a lot of money or someone who spends a lot of money. For some reason obvious e.g. my money spending habit during my senior secondary school days a couple of my friends conferred that title on me. Thus the use of the term "chopper dey" whenever we would go out for lunch break or simply just want to buy something and they are counting on me to sort out the bill. Now, how I came about the cash that I was spending so lavishly at that time is a story not for another day (Divulging that may hurt my future political ambition, that’s if I ever have one anyway). Now back to my story, the ye...
